a tiger's heart

This party even had face painting! All the little girls were getting these cool swirly designs that scrolled across half their faces. When I asked Charlotte what she wanted, suggesting a ladybug, rainbow or heart, she immediately responded with "A tiger!" That's my girl!
She eventually compromised and settled for a heart with tiger colors though. She treasured her tiger heart and during the rest of the evening and drive home Charlotte would ask, "Is it still whole? Is it all still there?" I'd reassure her that it was all still there and she'd say how excited she was to show papa. You can imagine how upsetting it was when we told her we'd have to wipe the heart off before bed. I pulled out the wipes and she began to cry, "Why's it have to go away?" Our little girl was devastated! Papa was able to sooth her broken heart only a little by explaining that Charlotte had a tiger's heart inside her, so she always have one with her. She is brave and strong and smart and wild and our little girl with a tiger's heart went to bed with a scrubbed clean face, stained only with tears.
