sledding

We went sledding today! My friend, Johanna, came with us and provided the sleds. We went to Wonderland Park-- the park I've taken pics at before (where Liam is trying to follow Charlotte up a tire tunnel). This fantastic little park also has a great sledding hill! It seems they thought of everything when they made this park (basketball and tennis courts, a skateboarding park, and indoor restrooms, too!). So we spent a couple hours introducing the kids to sledding and discovered another reason to love our favorite park.

Or hate it. Liam hated it. This first picture was while walking to the hill for the first time. Once Liam actually went down the hill once, he wouldn't even go near a sled again. He cried for a good half hour from the trauma of being forced to sled down one hill-- in his papa's lap. He wouldn't even hear the suggestion of trying again. He cried great big tears that made his nose start to run, so an hour into our adventure, Liam's face was wet from tears and snot and snow.

Charlotte, on the other hand, loved sledding. That's really no surprise to any of us, I guess. We gave her firm directions to keep her legs inside her sled-- directions we heard her repeat to a little girl in a pink snowsuit who was on a sledding date with her papa. Charlotte says she didn't like all the snow getting in her eyes, and they both had a hard time keeping their mittens on, but sledding was, overall, a sweet thing to offer to our children this chilly Saturday.

It sounds like a nice cup of hot chocolate would have been the perfect finish to your sleddy-snowy day . . . the park sounds like a great place to play all year round. Tell Liam that I don't like going fast on a sled either . . . and my nose always runs when I'm cold.
We love you,
